This is my story
About Tundra-Thunder
For as long as I can remember, my heart has been anchored to the raw and the real. While I can appreciate the precision of a polished lens, I find my true sanctuary in the unvarnished grace of a fleeting, genuine second.Life for me has unfolded across the rugged tapestry of Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. I have been raised by the whispers of ancient forests, the shadows of granite peaks, and the rhythmic pulse of the tides. There is a primal harmony in the wild that transcends human craft, and it is within the silent vastness of the tundra that I found my artistic calling.Seeking a signature amidst a sea of imagery, I found my path during a rare phenomenon that once rumbled across our quiet skies—a thunderstorm. In other corners of the world, thunder is a common occurrence, but here, its deep resonance is a miracle. It was a revelation. My work is dedicated to those rare tremors of beauty hidden within the fabric of the ordinary, shared with complete transparency. These frames remain untouched, offered to you exactly as they first met my eyes. While I occasionally partner with AI to weave my thoughts into words, I refuse to let it touch the light or shadows of my photography. I have waded into the waters of digital manipulation only to find that the soul of the image vanishes when perfection is forced. In these galleries, you will find no apologies for the shadows, the soft focus, or the unconventional light. These are not flaws; they are the fingerprints of a living moment. Every grain and blur belongs to the narrative of the wild.My perspective may align with yours, or it may offer a path you’ve never walked. Whether an image stirs love or a quiet contemplation, my hope is that these captures find a home in your spirit—or better yet, inspire you to venture into the sunlight and begin a journey of your own.Every ending is a threshold. May you find wonder in every story you choose to inhabit.
About myself
I am a stroke survivor, slowly reclaiming abilities that many take for granted. Photography is more than just a way to share the everyday beauty around me—it is a vital form of personal rehabilitation.
Physical movement, whether hiking up a steep hill or walking a flat trail, has become far more taxing. Even holding my phone steady to capture an image takes deliberate effort. Yet, I constantly strive to push forward and better myself in every way possible.
These photos are more than visual records; they are anchors for my memory. Each frame allows me to pause, step back from daily struggles, and fully inhabit a single moment.
Because memory is another gift easily taken for granted, I keep my photography entirely natural. I don't edit for perfection because perfection isn't what I see. I embrace the soft focus, the crooked angles, and the raw light—to me, they are proof of where I’ve been, what I’ve overcome, and how far I’ve come.
Some may look at these images and see an imperfect frame. To others—and to me—they represent a living memory, the realism of life, and a story unfolding. I hope you enjoy the photos, and also that they help push you to stop and enjoy the moment as well. May you always find new moments to capture and cherish as well.
